BCP X Air Intake Installation
Congratulations! You are about to enjoy the highest-flowing Intake on the market for 2022+ WRX. There are cliff notes below and more detailed notes further down.
- To install this intake, remove all stock intake AND inlet pieces from the air filter to the turbocharger.
- Be mindful, the two smaller hoses going to and from the stock inlet have coolant in them. You will need to pinch these or drain your coolant before removing and installing our union fitting.
- The stock inlet will use the stock gasket. The Larger inlet for VB500 uses an included o ring. Use a small dab of RTV or petroleum jelly to hold the o ring in place if it wants to fall out.
- This intake is HUGE compared to the stock one, and some adjusting is necessary for fitment. We suggest leaving the upper bracket and hose clamps for the couplers a little loose before getting it into the final position and tightening.
- Ensure that you do not drop anything into the intake before installing the air filter.
- The air filter will appear slightly larger than the MAF housing, this is normal. Just tighten it down and it will hold well.
- If you have any questions or problems, please email sales@bcpdirect.com
- Thank you for purchasing your BCP Intake and consider reviewing it so that others can hear about its performance!
Detailed Notes
To install the BCP X Intake, you will need to remove the factory intake system AND the factory inlet. The inlet attaches to the turbo with (2) 10mm head bolts. Note: The inlet does have coolant running through it. When you remove the 2 coolant lines from the OEM inlet, we suggest using plastic hose pinch clamps to keep it from draining. You can also bend the line and hold it tight, or use your fingers (wear gloves if so). You will install the union fitting included with the kit (seen in the photo below) which goes on very easily and uses the OEM clamps.

The BCP X intake is the largest on the market, and takes up significantly more space than the OEM intake. Because of this, you will need to make a simple modification to your OEM PCV line. This is the larger plastic fitting that goes on the inlet. Once your OEM inlet is removed, locate the black PCV line and carefully remove the foam padding with a razor. Be sure to use extreme caution when using a razor blade. Once your padding is cut back, it should look like the photo below. Note- If you have an aftermarket AOS, you may not need to do this step!

The goal for our next step is to give this hard line and fitting more room for the larger pipe, so you will need to cut the line to remove a small section and replace with a rubber hose for better fitment and flexibility. Don’t worry, this line does not see fluid or high pressure. Cut the plastic hose at approximately the same marks as you see in the photo above. The goal is to remove about 1” of the hard section. Use a sharp razor blade to carefully cut a straight slice in the tube. When completed, it should look like the photo below.

Next, Install the section of ⅝” hose provided with the install kit, clamping it at both ends. We intentionally make it longer than needed, you can trim to fit your needs. You can adjust the position for best fitment with the PCV fitting on. It should look like the photo below.
